Jersey Skylands Labrador Retriever Club, Inc.

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the passing of Enid Bloome (Winterset).
Enid and Sel were members of JSLRC of years while they resided in CT. While they were well known in the breed ring, the Bloomes were most active in the field and ran some of our Field Training days.
See below if you would like to send Sel a note of condolences.

It is with a heavy heart and fond memories that I want to let you know that Enid passed away this morning at approximately 11:45 a.m. Sel's holding up well. It's been a downhill battle since the beginning of January and in fact, a struggle for the past couple of years.

Many of you knew Enid and Sel. They were early members of HHHRA and were responsible for getting me into this dog game of ours. Moreover, Sel and Enid became very good friends of Lynn and I and without their guidance, friendship and expertise, I would not have the dogs I have today, nor have had the opportunity to experience the field test world and all the good and camaraderie that goes with it.

I will always be indebted to Enid for her unwavering help and dedication to the dogs----even when she was yelling at me not to let the dog cheat a water entry or stray off line on a blind! She was a tough taskmaster when it came to teaching me, and I'm a better dog person for it.

Many of you were probably not aware that teaching was in Enid's soul. She taught elementary school for decades and was the author of several well known children's school books as well as a book on teaching piano. She was a perfectionist and ethical beyond reproach when it came to her dogs. If it wasn't for the Winterset Kennel, many many people would not have had the chance to experience a loving intelligent four legged friend, hunting partner and competitor.

I am not aware of any plans regarding a memorial or services, however I know Sel would truly appreciate hearing from old friends.

Sel's address is: P.O. Box 557, Mentone, AL 35984
