JSLRC SUPPORTED ENTRY
CRITIQUE FOR SUNDAY AUGUST 31, 2003
at Sussex Hills Kennel Club
Sunday Photos

Judge: Eeva  Rautala  (Wetten) Finland
It was a great pleasure to be invited to judge Labrador Retrievers at the Sussex Hills Kennel Club show on August 31st. I would like to thank the exhibitors for the big entry and the Jersey Skyland Labrador Club members for their kindness and hospitality. Especially I would like to thank my co-judge Ted Jennings, for judging the “overflow” in a very capable manner. Also, a big thank you to Laura and Olin Jennings for inviting us all for a picnic in their beautiful home. We had a great time including top class musical entertainment! And thank you also to Maryann and Gene Czerwinski and Laura Dedering for looking after us so well after the show, we really enjoyed the day together.

The quality of the dogs was very good indeed, although there was some variation between the classes. And the bitches seemed generally to be of better quality than the males. The movement was especially good. The variation of types was great, and some dogs were too lightly made, but most were rather heavy. The heads in many cases could have been better chiseled. Some dogs were unlucky to be out of coat. I had to make some close decisions, but in the end I was very pleased with my winners.
